If I knew for sure that I only had 24 hours, I'd spend the time with my kids and Just Ron. I'd hate to die before they are grown, but if it was going to happen I'd be glad to know in advance. I think it really stinks to just drop dead with no warning when you are young.

Not around where I live. It would be rare to have significant bad weather in mid-March or later, and tornado season hasn't usually started yet - although this year is proving to be different.

You could always get a small child to vomit all over your car as you are driving to the hall. That's what got me out of the last Special Assembly Day. I"ll even loan you a sickly small child for the occasion, but you have to keep him all night.

What was the last meeting you ever went to?
by lilbluekitty ini figured out it's been 4 months and 5 days since my last meeting ever.
july 10th, it was a sunday.
i hadn't been there in 2 months or so and decided to see if anyone noticed i'd been gone.

Sometime in early November 2011. My presence at the meetings was rather irregular as any excuse would do to stay home, so I can't be sure of the exact date, or even if it was a Sunday meeting or a Wednesday night meeting. i do know that I failed to attend the Special Assembly Day on 11/19/2011, and I never set foot in a hall after that.

wts radical update - all must wear pointy long hats with strings at the top.
by mP inive been thinking the problem is jws look like everyone else.
this makes it too easy for them to merge or forget they are different.
jw kids with long pointy hats cant run or play w/ worldly kids.

If you can't manage to fornicate or have oral sex while wearing a big pointy hat, you aren't very motivated. I bet I could figure out a way to do both in less than a minute.

Mem invitations
by AnonJW ini have heard quite a few reports of how the invitation work has not been carried out as enthusiastically as it was last year.
during the 2011 campaign, many due to the reduced hour requirement pioneered for the month, some congregations had over 50% of its members doing this.
this year it has all changed, and even though some have made an extra effort, not nearly as many as did last year.

Nobody bothered to bring us a real invitation. The elder whose service group we are assigned to stopped by sometime Saturday or Sunday and left a post it note saying he was sorry he missed us and hoped to see us at the memorial. We won't be going, so he'll just have to keep on missing us.

Is it just me or is the GB asking for money more directly.
by life is to short inok soi grew up in the religion and i remember so often the churches being slammed at the meetings for passing the plate and how they shamelessly begged for money.
how we as jehovah's witnesses are so much better because we never ask for money and the contribution box is sort of hidden in the back of the hall like we were even embarrassed to have to have that.
just the word contribution was so much better than the words the worldly churches used.

Many people who rise to the top of a corporation don't retire - they may end up getting forced out though. My coworkers dad kept on going to work every day until he died. He was in his 90s - being the bank president was a big deal to him even though he was just a figurehead at the end (and was never more than a big fish in a little pond). I don't think many of the governing body would willingly retire even if they kept all the benefits they currently enjoy.

For me, I am not feeling any urge at all to participate in any traditional Christian religions. I don't know if I'll ever feel that there is any truth or special value in organized religion.
